Rebecca Crowley, Founder and CEO
Rebecca Crowley has known how to put the right spin on things since she began her career. A tried and true Chicagoan, she made the jump to move to New York City in 2001, the breeding ground for dreamers, entrepreneurs and energetic souls. Her passion: publicity. Never looking back, she founded RTC Publicity in July 2004.
Prior to founding RTC Publicity she worked at Penguin Group USA specifically doing publicity for The Berkley Group. Working for one of the diverse publishers in the industry, Rebecca was able to promote a wide-range of books, allowing her to perfect her pitching style to a variety of media. She wasn’t just pitching books, she was pitching people, telling media players the story behind the author’s work, jumping on headlines to make sure her expert authors didn’t miss an opportunity to have their say in current affairs.
Working as principal and senior level publicist at RTC Publicity is a dream come true for Rebecca. It was established to offer clients all-encompassing, limitless publicity, marketing and promotion. Throughout her career, Rebecca has arranged many events that promoted books, products, television shows, companies and magazines.
The first 5 years at RTC was very much a time of “testing the waters.” Like at Penguin, RTC Publicity did PR for a very eclectic group of clients that covered all realms of women’s lifestyle and consumer products. Now Rebecca has found her specialties in food PR, mystery books, internet start-ups of all lifestyle categories, and entrepreneurship.
Further honing her pitching skills, Rebecca began the RTC Publicity blog in June 2009. Originally, it was a way to educate clients on PR, as it is important for anyone seeking a service to “get” it. It evolved into a resource for those in the media world to find out what’s happening with editorial pages across the country. Also on the blog, Rebecca’s fascination with modern technology shines through. Rebecca believes not only that a publicist method must change as the media world changes, but that it is important to keep up with technology for the needs of clients.
